Popular Jam Bands to Play Ojai Global Groove Fest Festival Offers Weekend Of Music, Camping, and Fun For Charity
Ojai, CA (PRWEB)April 18, 2006 -- The Ojai concert series at Libbey Bowl presented by the RageJax Foundation and Howard Freiberg Presents continues with the OJAI GLOBAL GROOVE FESTIVAL on Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21, 2006 in Ojai, California. This will be the first two-day concert in a series of festivals which began last year to benefit the RageJax Foundation, an organization that brings music and art programs to under-privileged children.
Headlining on Saturday May 20 will be Aphrodesia, an electrifying 11- piece dance and drum troupe from San Francisco with an incredible stage show performance that leaves the audience screaming for more.
Back by popular demand from a performance at last years Ojai Jam Band Festival 2 will be HAMSA LILA, a hypnotic and original musical ensemble with a kaleidoscopic world- beat perspective. This terrific earthy band has been creating a huge following wherever they play with what they describe as “world trance grooves”.
Another reappearance from the 2005 jam band shows will be DELTA NOVE (delta novay), a six-piece band from Long Beach, California that is born from a blend of Funk, Brazilian Samba, Jazz, Afro-Beat, Blues and Rock. Delta Nove has a distinct sound that is carving out its own niche in today's music industry. Southern California favorites ELECTRIC BLUE return after a 5 year retirement, and reggae beats from Fresno's GREEN MACHINE will kick off the festivities.
Sunday May 21 brings jam band stars PARTICLE to Libbey Bowl. Particle has been featured on CNN and in Rolling Stone Magazine. Their debut album "Launchpad" was named one of 2004's Top Ten albums of the year by the Associated Press, and they have appeared at Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Austin City Limits Music Festivals. Often times having friends "drop-in" when they play in Southern California, they were joined on-stage in their last Los Angeles area appearance by Door's guitarist Robbie Krieger, Zappa's guitarist Steve Vie, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, Hip-Hop's Blackalicious, and others. This dynamic band has lot's of surprises, and is guaranteed to get the dance floor jumping!
From Asheville, North Carolina, TOUBAB KREWE blends Malian, American, and "Dirty South" influences into a genre all its own. The magnetic instrumental quintet formed a year ago and has attracted a diverse and devoted national following, captivating crowds everywhere from the Bonnaroo Music Festival to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Also performing that Sunday will be ever crowd pleasing Grateful Dead cover band CUBENSIS and the NIKHIL KORULA BAND, a hot new group of very talented musicians with fast-rising popularity.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a drum if they have one to participate in a "Drum Circle" during both days shows. A vendors faire will offer a wide variety of vendors selling tie-dyes, jewelry, clothes, art, food, and more.
Tickets are only $20.00 each day or $35.00 for a two-day pass in advance - $25.00 the day of the show. Tickets are on-sale now at www.ragejaxfoundation.com without a service charge, or through Ticketmaster.com. Local outlets will go on sale Tuesday April 18 at Salzers and Wild Planet in Ventura, Bags Plus 620 State St. Santa Barbara, and Attitude Adjustment Shop and Ojai Creates in Ojai.
Gates open both days at 11:00 a.m. with music starting promptly at noon, continuing until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs are welcomed, but no glass, alcohol, or dogs. Bus shuttle service will be available to concetgoers who camp out at Lake Casitas. Unlimited all-day bus passes will be available for $5.00 with concert ticket purchase. For more information please go to http://www.ragejaxfoundation.com.

About The RageJax Foundation:
Proceeds from these festivals benefit the RageJax Foundation. The RageJax Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes music and arts programs to at-risk children who would normally not have the opportunity available.
This local charity was formed in loving memory of Raechel (Rage) and Jacqueline (Jax) Houck, two sisters from Ojai and Santa Cruz whose lives were tragically cut short by an automobile accident in October 2004. Ms. Carol “Cally” Houck, the girls’ mother, organized the RageJax Foundation to continue the charitable work of her young daughters. Prior to the tragedy that took the lives of these special sisters, Jacqueline Houck was scheduled to begin teaching art to children by reaching out to them on a personal level.
RageJax Foundation seeks to continue and expand this vision by introducing an environment of creativity, inspiration, imagination, learning and cross-cultural exchange. Through donations and grants, the RageJax Foundation will provide location, facilities, supplies, equipment and staffing. The Foundation will network with the other non-profit children’s organizations both in Ventura County and worldwide where the need arises.
